Tigers Infielder Teddy Garcia Commits to Elmira College
The righty leads Linden in walks and is tied for first in stolen bases
Linden Tigers infielder Teddy Garcia announced his commitment to play his final two years at Elmira College earlier this season.
The speedster brings his baserunning prowess to the Soaring Eagles, a team desperately in need of speed on the bases. Last season, Elmira recorded the fourth fewest stolen bases in the Empire 8 Athletic Conference with 45 on 60 attempts. Furthermore, the Soaring Eagles lost outfielder Kaden Bolt to graduation. The senior snagged 20 of Elmira's 45 bags on just 25 chances and broke the school's all-time stolen base record with 67.
Garcia hopes to continue his hot stretch on the bases with the Soaring Eagles. This spring with Raritan Valley Community College, the infielder was a perfect 13-for-13 on the basepaths and ranked second on the Golden Lions. Through his first 10 games with the Tigers this summer, the righty leads Linden with 12 walks and has tallied five stolen bases on six tries. However, Garcia has struggled at the plate with a .118 batting average and just two hits.
Through two innings on the mound, Garcia has allowed six runs on seven hits. In 2026 with the Golden Lions, the righty gave up five runs on ten hits in seven and two thirds innings of work.
